As I bid farewell to Women’s History Month, I can’t help but reminisce about the inspiring group of trailblazing women assembled at this year’s She Rocks Awards. Held during NAMM Show week in Amaheim, CA, the 12th annual awards show featured co-hosts producer and performer AIJIA and The Bangles legend Susannah Hoffs kicking things off.

Peppered throughout the night were performances from rising Mexican rock guitarist Jimena Rosado and award recipients like 80’s pop princess Debbie Gibson. Deservedly honoring a broad myriad of women in entertainment like multi-platinum producer Sylvia Massy, Vixen guitarist Britt Lightning, artist Bonnie McIntosh, Oscar nominated film composer Laura Karpman, Billboard Exec Editor Melissa Newman, Deering Banjos CEO Jamie Deering and Black Opry Founder Holly G., each awardee’s speech was more inspiring than the next.

During the evening, barrier breakers took the stage to express messages that representation in rooms of power matter, the need to break up “the boys club’ and elevate fellow women through mentorship and visibility. Galvanizing and heart-felt, the night captured each woman’s essence and encouraged us all to “rock on, baby!”
