“Baby, I Don’t Know Oh Oh” why it’s taken me this long to partake in a Vulfpeck concert experience, but I happily remedied this overdue situation on an unusually hot Autumnal night this past weekend at Los Angeles’ Greek Theatre. Returning after many years (Who remembers the Sugar Water Festival with Erykah Badu, Janelle Monáe and Floetry and Adele’s brilliant ’21’ songs echoing through the canyon?), having a prime vantage point quickly reminded me again why The Greek’s such a top-tier outdoor show experience. Opening the night up on a strong note, NYer Jackie Evans elegantly started things off. Around 9, the Vulfpeck and Friends crew took the stage one by one. After viewing previous clips of Cory Wong, Louis Cato and Antwaun Stanley bring their distinct flavor to the brew, seeing them in person live “gave me somethin’ “. Founding members Joe Dart, Woody Goss and Jack Stratton all made “3 on E” feel like “33 on E”. If ever there was a first moment to see this amazing band, I’m glad I waited for this one.
