For Latinas like I growing up in the 90’s, Selena had it all. With a distinctive powerhouse voice, irreplaceable charisma and charm, homegirl flavor and an untouchable unique fashion sense never witnessed before, once Selena hit the US, Latin and global world stage, her destiny to reach stratospheric heights felt undeniable. She repped for a new generation of US born Latino Americans influenced by pop, rock and R&B with familial ties to our culture, straddling both worlds because it’s naturally who we are. When I heard the Grammy Museum kicked off 2026 opening a new exhibit in her honor, like a moth to a flame, I knew I’d be drawn in.
I luckily got a chance to preview the new ‘Selena: From Texas To The World’ exhibit running until March 16, 2026 featuring collection pieces West Coast Selena fans probably have not seen live before. Greeted with an eye-catching mural painted in front of the Museum before you walk in, touring the exhibit cases, Selena’s legendary outfits like her 1994 Grammy dress, her Grammys, her husband’s Chris Perez’s guitars, her sister Suzette’s drum and seat, and even a microphone with Selena’s signature lipstick on it, highlight an unforgettable Tejano music experience. Having Chris and Suzette on hand during the preview to continue Selena’s legacy capped the perfect day. Selena fue La Reina y siempre lo serĂ¡.
